Our Story
Our story begins in 1985 when Steven and Deborah Schechner founded Awning Works Inc. in Clearwater, Florida. Their sons, Jarrett and Jeremy, grew up immersed in the business—learning everything from welding to installing custom awnings.
In 2003, Jeremy launched our first online store, Outdoor Fabric Central, through his e-commerce business eCentral Stores Inc., offering the same trusted Sunbrella fabrics the family had used for years in awning projects.
As demand grew, we expanded into additional online storefronts:
- Patio Lane, focused on offering all types of outdoor fabrics and high-quality custom outdoor products for inspired space – both indoor and outdoor.
- Outdoor Textiles, offering brands for the avid automotive enthusiast like Nassimi, Textilene, Olympus, Phifertex and Serge Ferrari.
- Haven & Harmony Swing Bed, drawing from years of experience with welding processes, we developed a patented Swing Bed line that offers quality and unique designs for both coastal and mountain living.
- Pillow My Fancy, visions of beautifully made throw pillows that give everyone the change to quickly update their look.
Today, Outdoor Fabric Central continues to grow, offering exclusive Sunbrella patterns and expanding into new Sunbrella products and outdoor living categories. We’re proud to be recognized as a go-to resource in the industry.
Custom Projects & Fabrication
Beyond online sales, custom fabrication is a core part of what we do. Thanks to the decades of experience drawing from the cornerstone brand -- Awning Works Inc., we’ve created everything from custom Sunbrella pool floats and cockpit covers to pet beds and seating cushions. These unique projects reflect our creativity, craftsmanship, and deep product knowledge rooted in the Sunbrella brand.
